Braided Cable Guide

Braided cables are unique alternative to coiled cables when finishing off your builds. Each cable is made by taking 4 separate strands of paracord and braiding them together to form a round braid. Because up to 4 colors can be used within a braid, a great variety of patterns can be made depending on how many colors are used. This guide aims to provide a quick visual for each possible combination of colors and patterns.

ONE Color // 4:0 - SOLID

A simple, single color cable using the same color for each of the four strands in the braid.

Sample: 4x cream

TWO Colors // 3:1 - ISO

A two-color cable in which three strands are of a first color, and the fourth strand is of a separated color. This creates an isolated diamond pattern along the braid.

Sample: 3x cream, 1x maroon

TWO Colors // 2:2 - SPLIT

A two-color cable in which two colors are doubled up and then braided in alternation. This creates a pattern that splits each color down the center of the braid.

Sample: 2x cream, 2x navy

TWO Colors // 2:2 - HALF

A two-color cable in which two colors are doubled up and then braided together. This creates a pattern that splits the two colors in half down the center of the braid.

Sample: 2x cream, 2x coffee brown

THREE Colors // 2:1:1 - SPLIT

A three color-cable that employs the same split pattern from 2:2 - SPLIT. The first color is doubled to create the split along the center, and two additional colors are added to contrast the doubled color.

Sample: 2x cream, 1x black, 1x maroon

THREE Colors // 2:1:1 - HALF

A three color-cable that employs the same split pattern from 2:2 - HALF. The first color is doubled to and braided together to create the halved pattern, and the two additional colors are added to contrast the other half.

Sample: 2x cream, 1x black, 1x maroon

FOUR Colors // 1:1:1:1 - PALETTE

A simple four-color cable that uses a unique color of paracord for each strand in the braid.
